Protect you skin, ladies!

According to the Skin Cancer Foundation, 28 million Americans still use tanning beds, 50% of us don’t use enough sunscreen and only a mere 38% of us use SPF every day.

This is why skin cancer is the #1 cancer in the U.S., even though it’s the easiest cancer to prevent. Spread the word this summer to your friends and family and educate them about smarter sun protection.

Join the La Roche-Possy cause, titled SOS, or Save Our Skin and make your commitment to sun safety today. Sign up at http://www.SOSsaveourskin.com, and you’ll receive $10 in savings towards La Roche sun care products.

Enjoy the summer sun, but product yourself and your loved ones while you do!! Spread the word to help protect against skin cancer.

Like every woman at some point in their life, I too have just come to the realization that I need to work on my waist line. Immediately! Over the winter months, I’ve allowed myself the luxury of over eating and even managed to convince myself that if I put vegetables on my pizza, it is a well balanced meal! Unfortunately, my waist line didn’t see it that way.

Reluctantly, I’ve been slowly migrating back to “healthyville”, spending time scouring health magazines and trying to eliminate empty carbs and replacing them with more lean proteins, fruits and vegetables.

I was reading Health magazine this morning and came across an article that gave me some food for thought that I wanted to share with you. The article was titled “Two Words That Stop Cravings”.

The article states, “Next time you’re faced with a tantalizing treat you’d rather skip, try this phrase: I Don’t Eat That! New research finds that 80% of women who used those words stuck with their good eating habits, compared to 10 percent of women who said, I can’t.” The article suggests that saying “I don’t” gives you a sense of empowerment.

So, here it goes ladies. The next time that I’m offered that delicious pizza, cheesy burrito, or that extra cold beer at the beach, here’s what I have to say…..

Wanna know what the next biggest hair trend is for fall??

Cacharel Hair, of course!

Be one step ahead of every fashionista out there and show off this hot, new trend! This look was all over the fall runway at the Cacharel show and is even featured in the July issue of Lucky magazine.

Here’s how to get this simple and easy look:

1. Part your hair into a chic, edgy side part.

2. Pin in 4 to 5 red bobby pins on the side.

3. Add matching red lipstick to complete the look.

This is a simple and easy look for anyone to achieve and you can bet that you’re going to see this trend all over this fall.

Red bobby pins, or any color, can be found at ulta.com or on amazon.com.

This summer it’s all about a pop of bright, bold colors and I must say that I’m crazy about yellow!

From my long, yellow Susana Monaco strapless, maxi dress to my teeny tiny, yellow and white polka dot bikini, I have yellow fever! I’ve been popping this color everywhere from a discreet yellow and navy necklace paired with a white tank and white linen pants, to my favorite Chanel nail polish in shades of yellow (2011’s Chanel Mimosa and this season’s limited edition Gold Fingers as a fashion statement on my toes and fingers)

Some of my favorite ways to “do” yellow are the following:

1. White linen pants with a white sheer tank top. Pair it up with navy Tory Burch sandals with gold logo and you have perfection! Add a yellow headband and the result is instant style!

2. Dark denim skinny jeans with a white blouse or white blazer with white tank top. Add yellow shoes or handbag for an elegant, yet trend setting touch.

3. A long yellow dress with a simple long gold necklace and sandals.

4. White shorts like the “Sateenfrom The Banana Republic Trina Turk Collection, $50, paired with a yellow top, brown or navy belt and simple sandals makes for a great “daytime summer” outfit..

5. Carry this look into the night by throwing a fitted navy blazer w/ rolled sleeves (J Crew Schoolboy blazer, $198) over a yellow tank top, gold, stacked bangle bracelets with cork colored high heel. (of course, I always wear my cork Loubis for instant glamour!).

6. The yellow bikini! This one will make you a goddess of the beach! Add a worn, light colored, denim shirt for your cover up. Gold rimmed Ray Ban aviators for your sunglasses and a natural straw, floppy sun hat.

Remember: The key to making a statement with color is to always look classically chic. A simple addition of color is the best way to stand out in a crowd and to show the world that you are a true fashionista on top of the latest trends!

I was introduced to the Clarisonic by a makeup artist at a Nordstrom event this past February 2012. I was invited to a special event at the store for beauty writers where they brought in NYC based Chanel makeup artists to treat us to mini makeovers.

As I started to discuss my skin care regime with my makeup artist she was surprised to learn that I had never heard of the Clarisonic, nor ever used one before.

For the record, I’m one of those people who thinks that everything is a gimmick, designed to strip hard working people of their cash. I thought to myself, “here we go again….someone trying to sell me some ridiculously expensive gadget that I don’t need”.

I decided to listen to the girl and I was surprised by what she told me about it. This particular makeup artist had worked at a dermatology office for 5 years prior to going to work for Chanel. She was extremely knowledgeable about skin care and she was not a woman who believed in expensive creams and lotions. In fact, she used Cetaphil to cleanse her skin, which is something that I use to wash my face with too. After we talked for awhile, she told me that the Clarisonic was the one product she couldn’t live without!

She shared with me this information below about Clarisonic that came directly from their website, http://www.clarisonic.com.

“Beautiful Skin Begins with Cleaner Skin”

Traditional methods of cleansing don’t get your skin as clean as you’d think. Fortunately, the lead inventor of Sonicare discovered a breakthrough in how we cleanse. Using Sonic Technology, Clarisonic’s patented micro-massage motion works within skin’s natural elasticity to gently remove the impurities traditional methods leave behind- leaving skin softer, smoother and more beautiful.

Cleanses 6x better than with your hands alone in just 60 seconds

Works with skin, not against it, to gently massage away impurities trapped within pores

Prepares skin for better absorption of creams, serums and moisturizers

Gentle enough to use 2x a day”

I ended up purchasing the Mia 2 in pink for $149.00. I chose this model because it offered two different speeds with a one minute pulsing timer. Also, if I didn’t like the product, the company offers a 90-day money back guarantee.

Read the reviews on this product and you’ll be blown away! The overall rating is 4.7 out of 5 stars for this product and the reviews are stellar. After using the Mia 2 for the past several months, my skin has never been better and I get little to no breakouts anymore. I use it twice a day without exception because I love the way it makes my skin feel. I just leave it in my shower and use it when I’m in there. I have replaced the bristle head on on my Mia 2 as recommended at around the 3 month mark. It comes with a charger and I end up charging mine about every two weeks.

I highly recommend this product and am beyond happy that I took the plunge and purchased it! If your looking for a solution to better skin, look no further than Clarisonic. It’s worth every cent.

Everything’s Coming up Roses

Kelly in Dolce & Gabbana, Beyonce in Stella McCartney, and Jessica Alba in Erdem are just a few of the A list celebrities that are stepping out in fabulous, floral style!

Does the trend work?? Yes or No?

I absolutely love bright flowers and think that this is a really fun way to brighten up your summer fashion and have a little fun at the same time. Paired with a killer pair of heels, the girlish, cropped length of the pants can work for any body type if worn confidently and paired with a simple top.

Jessica Alba and Beyonce make it daytime chic, while Minka takes it into the night by pairing these awesome Dolce & Gabbana’s with a sharp, black leather jacket. (I prefer the low waisted style to Beyonce’s high waisted version).

Well, I’ve gotta go….I’m off to find myself the perfect pair to wear out tonight!

Leave a comment and let me know your thoughts about this trend and who you think wore it best.

Now that we’ve all seen the color block theme done everywhere from the red carpet to the fashion runways of the hottest designers, I’m not surprised to see these bright, bold hues popping up in the form of nail polish.

Don’t be afraid to push the limits and have a little fun with these daring polish colors. Here’s how to wear these brights in style:

Let the polish be your fashion statement! Brighten up a white on white ensemble by popping one of the vibrant hues from designer Thakoon for Nars collection (available at Sephora).
It’s best to set these bold colors off with simple shades of white, khaki or black.

Keep nails short and trimmed. Long, bright nails are a fashion DON’T and can turn this fun trend into an instant fashion disaster.

(I have the Thakoon for Nars “Koliary” cyan blue on my toes and I’ve been using it as my fashion statement all week long. So much fun!)
